img src="images/ibdhost.gif"/ (note the omission of the slash :)
Here is example on a web server (where the web root is public_html)
Root (public_html)
.......index.html
.......top.gif
....images
......ibdhost.gif
....help
......path
........index.php (this page)
For this page, the current page is the index.php file inside the path directory - inside the help directory. Therefore, the relative path to this page is
/help/path/index.php
Then to load the ibdhost.gif image (top left of this page), the relative path to the image is
../../images/ibdhost.gif
Which means the ibdhost.gif image is in a directory two levels up from this index.php file - then down into the 'images' directory.
The two dots .. instruct the server to move up one directory. Therefore two sets of ../../ moves up two levels to the root directory (public_html) - then opens the images directory and loads the ibdhost.gif file.
Of course, if the image had been in the help directory the relative path would be
../help/imagename.jpg
Relative path is really easy to understand just by reviewing the basic definition:
A relative URL points to a file or directory in relation to the present file or directory.
Absolute Path: An absolute URL is the URL most people already understand. It is the complete path including the domain - file name. Example: http://www.ibdhost.com/images/logo.gif specifies an image file (logo.gif) located in the images directory, for the www.ibdhost.com domain. This type of URL is what your must use when you want to link (or load) a file that is on another server.
Another example is the absolute URL of this page (which is also the Address / Location of the file) = http://www.ibdhost.com/help/path/index.php/
The tags are what separate normal text from HTML code. You might know them as the words between the
. They allow all the cool stuff like images and tables and stuff, just by telling your browser what to render on the page. Different tags will perform different functions. The tags themselves donât appear when you view your page through a browser, but their effects do.
|
Headings
Headings are defined with the h1 to h6 tags. h1 defines the largest heading. h6 defines the smallest heading.
Headings tags always comes in the BODY part of html document :)
Paragraphs
Paragraphs are defined with the p tag.
HTML automatically adds an extra blank line before and after a paragraph.
Line Breaks
The br tag is used when you want to end a line, but don't want to start a new paragraph. The br tag forces a line break wherever you place it. The br tag is an empty tag. It has no closing tag.

20 Top Ways to Speed up your PC -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow these tips and you will definitely have a much faster and more reliable PC! The icon means the tip will probably work best under Win98. 1. Wallpapers: They slow your whole system down, so if you're willing to compromise, have a basic plain one instead! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Drivers: Update your hardware drivers as frequently as possible. New drivers tend to increase system speed especially in the case of graphics cards, their drivers are updated by the manufacturer very frequently! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Minimizing: If you want to use several programs at the same time then minimize those you are not using. This helps reduce the overload on RAM. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Boot Faster: The 'starting Windows 95/98' message on startup can delay your booting for a couple of seconds. To get rid of this message go to c:\ and find the file Msdos.sys. Remove the Read-Only option. Next, open it in Notepad or any other text editor. Finally, go to the text 'Options' within the file and make the following changes: Add BootDelay=0. To make your booting even faster, set add Logo=0 to remove the Windows logo at startup. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Restart only Windows: When restarting your PC, hold down Shift to only restart Windows rather than the whole system which will only take a fraction of the time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Turn Off Animations: Go to Display Settings from the Control Panel and switch to the Effects Tab. Now turn off Show Windows Content While Dragging and Smooth Edges on Screen Fonts. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Faster Start-Menu Access: Go to the Start menu and select Run. Now type Regedit and hit Enter. The Registry Editor will appear on the screen. Now, open the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. You should see a MenuShowDelay value. If you don't then do the following: right click on a blank space in the right pane and select New\String. Change the name in the new value to MenuShowDelay. Now that we have the MenuShowDelay value, double click on it and enter 0 in the value data field. This sets the start menu delay to 0 milliseconds. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Resolutions: If you are willing to do anything for faster performance from your PC, then try lowering your display resolution. The lower it is, the faster your PC. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9. Turn off Active Desktop: Go to your Display Properties and switch to the Web tab. Uncheck View My Active Desktop As a Web Page. Since the Active Desktop option under Windows 98 uses a lot of system resources, this option can have a dramatic effect on the speed of the whole system. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10. Defragment Often: Windows 98's Defrag tool uses Application Acceleration from Intel which means that when you defragment your drive, data is physically arranged on the drive so that applications will load faster. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11. Take your PC to Bed: Using the Advanced Power Management feature under Windows 98 gives you the option to use the sleep command. That way, you can send your PC to sleep instead of shutting it down and then restarting it. It's as simple as pressing a button and then pressing the same button to wake it up. You can tell Windows after how many minutes/hours of inactivity to automatically sleep the machine in the Advanced Power Management section of the Control Panel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12. Faster Internet Access: If you use the internet for reference and the sites you visit are rarely updated then try the following. In IE (the same can be done in Netscape) go to Tools, Internet Options. Next, click on Settings... in the Temporary Internet Files section. Finally, select Never for the first option and double the amount of storage space to use, click OK! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 13. Benchmarking: Benchmarking can be very useful when run frequently. It can tell you how your PC's components are performing and then compare them to other machines like yours. For example, when you overclock your PC, you want to know how much more speed you have and whether it is stable. All this and more can be discovered using benchmarking. An excellent piece of software for doing this job is SiSoft Sandra which can be found in the Downloads File Archive! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14. Refresh the Taskbar without restarting: If you in some way change the taskbar, either in Regedit or elsewhere, you can refresh the task bar without restarting. Hold down Ctrl Alt Del, and double click on Explorer. Say Yes to close Explorer, but no to closing Windows. This will refresh the Taskbar and system tray. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15. Quick CD Eject: Instead of pushing the button on your drive, right-click your CD drive letter in My Computer and click on Eject. This will also remove any icons that have become associated with the CD drive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 16. Start Up Programs: Windows can be slowed down when programs run on start up. To eliminate this, check your Start up folder. You can access it from the start menu: Start, Programs, Start Up. Another way to eliminate programs from loading even before Windows actually starts is by doing the following: Click on Start, then Run. Type msconfig. It will take quite a long time for this program to load, but when you finally see it on your screen, explore the different tabs. They all have to do with how quickly your PC boots, so select what you want, and uncheck what you don't want! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17. Fonts: When Windows starts, it loads every single font in the Fonts folder. Therefore, the more fonts you have, the slower the booting process. To get rid of unwanted fonts, simply go to the Fonts folder under c:\windows and remove whatever you don't want. Fonts that have a red letter 'A' as their icon are system fonts, so don't delete them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18. Stretching Wallpapers: Don't "stretch" your wallpaper in Windows 98 since it actually slows Windows down when you drag icons around on the desktop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19. RAM Matters: If you have less than 32MB then you should seriously think of upgrading it to at least 64MB. Windows runs much more smoothly with 64MB or higher and tends to use less hard disk space for virtual memory. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20. Partitioning: A very nice little thing you can do to boost system performance. By partitioning your hard drive, splitting one physical drive into several logical ones, you can gain several advantages. 1. If you get a virus or you accidentally format a drive, not all will be lost. 2. By placing the swap file (Win386.swp) on a separate drive, The swap file will be less fragmented and thus, faster. 3. Place Windows on a separate drive and whenever you need to reinstall it, you rest assured that your data is safe on a separate drive. Partitioning can be done using a few programs such as FDisk which comes with DOS. However, FDisk formats everything on the hard disk before partitioning. Alternatively, you can use Partition Magic from Power Quest to partition your hard disk without losing your data. |
Here is just such a simple solution, presented in the form of three keys, that when remembered and practiced, keep us going in the right direction and while we walk the path, they also are the catalysts in bringing happiness.
Key 1 - Keep Your Heart Free From Hatred
When people, events and circumstances go against our wishes, desires or expectations, they create reactions of anger and frustration within us.
These reactions are natural and must not be denied or ignored - rather their underlying reason must be seen and overcome - that of our pre-decided ideas and expectations being thwarted.
These emotions occur as a natural progression of painful events and are fine as long as they are felt and released. The problem lies when we cannot let go of the feelings and they tend to seep into our hearts where they fester
till treated. If such is the case, these negative feelings tend to influence our way of thought, and necessarily, of action and become an integral part of our outlook towards life itself. Then everything that originates within
us carries the subtle flavour of these very negative feelings.
The first secret of happiness says that no matter what emotions we feel temporarily, our hearts must remain free of hate.
Key 2 - Keep Your Mind Free From Worry
We worry when our thoughts travel either to the future, or linger in the past. Worry is a phenomenon which depletes energy and divides attention - leaving us incapable of giving our best to the moment before us.
The only way to give a 100% of yourself to the task at hand is to be totally present in the present moment without thinking of what's gone by or what is still to come - both cases where we have no say or control anyway.
Performing the action totally and to the best of one's ability brings back a positive result based on the law of karma - "As you sow, so shall you reap" - a result which would not be possible had we divided our inner being with
worry.
The second secret of happiness is to always perform actions based on careful thought and planning, but without worry.
Key 3 - Give A Lot, Expect A Little
It is crucial for our happiness to come to the realisation early in life that it is our own expectations and pre-conceived ideas and hopes, which when frustrated, cause most of our pain and agony.
Once this understanding has stabilised within us, we begin to live for the moment, and within ourselves instead of seeking outward or external reinforces for our self-esteem or happiness.
It is not enough for us to be passive spectators of our own life, we must also be willing to give and share freely of our best qualities without waiting for a similar return.
It is both wise and practical to remember the advice of numerous spiritual masters that "It is in the giving that we receive." The free giving of your own self without strings attached bring both peace and contentment in the
long run.
The third secret of happiness is to give a lot and expect very little.
My grandfather took me to the fish pond on the farm when I was about seven, and he told me to throw a stone into the water. He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone person.
You may create lots of splashes in your life but the waves that come from those splashes will disturb the peace of all your fellow creatures, he said.
Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle and that circle will also touch many other circles. You will need to live in a way that allows the good that comes from your circle to send the peace of that goodness to others. The splash that comes from anger or jealousy will send those feelings to other circles. You are responsible for both.
That was the first time I realized each person creates the inner peace or discord that flows out into the world. We cannot create world peace if we are riddled with inner conflict, hatred, doubt, or anger. We radiate the feelings and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak them or not. Whatever is splashing around inside of us is spilling out into the world, creating beauty or discord with all other circles of life.
Remember the eternal wisdom
WHATEVER YOU FOCUS ON EXPANDS...

Take it all in. Let it all out.
Always remember. Never forget.
Grow older. Stay young at heart.
Remember me. Stay true to yourself.
Be an individual. Stick with your friends.
Have no regrets. Learn from your mistakes.
Laugh. Cry.
Strive for the best. Share the spotlight.
Be confident. Admit when you're wrong.
Give yourself more credit. Take the blame.
Think for yourself. Think twice.
Love more. Hate less.
Miss it lots. Move on.
Be prepared. Be spontaneous.
Improve yourself. Never change.
I'll always be here. Things won't always be the same.
Don't miss it by blinking. Close your eyes and breathe it in.
Be strong. Ask for help.
Reach the top. Don't fall.
Believe in miracles. Don't depend on them.
Live for today. Look toward tomorrow.

A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study. The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice. The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to people?"
After service he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways. It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, "God.. If you will listen. I will do my best to obey."
As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk.He shook his head an said out loud, "God is that you?" He didn't get a reply an started on toward home. But again the thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk. The young man though about Samuel and how he didn't recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli. "Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk." It didn't seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started of toward home. As he passed Seventh Street, he again felt the urge, "Turn down that street." This is crazy he thought and drove on past the intersection. Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh. Half jokingly, he said out loud, "Okay, God, I will". He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop. He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semicommercial area of town. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst of neighborhoods either.
The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people of the houses were already in bed. Again, he sensed something, "Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street." The young man looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat. "Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid." Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk.
Finally, he opened the door, "Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will count for something but if they don't answer right away, I am out of here." He walked across the street and rant the bell. He could hear so noise inside. A man's voice yelled out, "Who is it? What do you want?"
Then the door opened before the young man could get away. The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn't seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep.
"What is it?" The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, "Here, I brought this to you." The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway speaking loudly in Spanish. Then from done the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying.
The man had tears streaming down his face. The man began speaking and half crying, "We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn't have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me. How to get some milk." His wife in the kitchen yelled out, "I ask him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?"
The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put it in the man's hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face. He knew that God still answers prayers.
